I was checking out one of my favorite fishing forums the other day (Smallstreams.com), and I saw a post on the home page by moderator Gus referencing The Curtis Creek Manifesto. Not really reading the post, I clicked off the site and went upon my merry way. A few days later, I was compelled to read the write-up and I’m very glad that I did.
In short, The Curtis Creek Manifesto is probably the most entertaining fly fishing primer I’ve ever read. Upon learning that it was not just another “how-to” book, but also graphic novel…okay, it’s really more like a comic book…I rushed out to my local Barnes & Noble to pick up a copy. Some of you may have heard about or read it yourselves (it’s over 30 years old so it’s certainly not new), but it’s been a revelation to me.
I’m not going to regurgitate the post over at Smallstreams, but rather send you over there (by clicking HERE) to learn more about this book that every fly-angler, both novice & experienced, would likely enjoy.
Thanks Mike. I put it on my “to read” list and will pick it up next time I'm in Sacramento. Mark
I think you'd like it Mark. There's also a book (same style, different author) called the Lake Fly-Fishing Manifesto. Might be a nice complimentary piece considering some of the fishing you do. Here's an Amazon URL.http://www.amazon.com/Lake-Fly-Fishing-Manifesto-Mike-Croft/dp/1571884106
This is a great book…i read this before i picked up my first fly rod.
i think it is best to approach fly fishing with humor and then more humor and then illustrations. this book is a must read for fly anglers, especially those just starting out as I was about a year and a half ago.
