"a term to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity.
Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show."

I wonder why Lefty hates Tenkara so much? Don't know why it would matter. European styles of nymphing don't appeal to me but you don't see me bashing it. Oh well. My blog jumped the shark a couple years ago as well, and it was never as good as this one.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is priceless. And it doesn't surprise me in the least that Tenkara's not Lefty's cup of tea. Lefty's gift is making fly line sing; laying out smooth, flowing ribbons of silk. No shock that he's not into flippin' a high tech cane pole.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't understand is why John Gierach advocating tenkara means it's going into decline. Is Lefty making some comment about Gierach?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what difference it makes what Lefty or Poncho or I say. I think Tenkara has proved itself with the capable leadership of Daniel G. If anything, John G. giving it a try should be an eye opener as it was for me.
