Today's My Friday - Clearwater Bound

Yup, no apologies.  Took the next few days off from work to get a little R&R in with the wife and kid over a long weekend.

Actually, I'm not sure how much resting or relaxing will be going on because we'll be quite busy...we're heading West (well, at least across the state) to Clearwater Beach.  Lilly is on Spring Break from school and we're going to take advantage of it.  The beach, Legoland, a Phillies game, and likely a cruise on a fake pirate ship are on the agenda at the moment.  Oh, and Wawa.  The Tampa area is one of the few Florida outposts of Wawa, so that needs to get done.

I'd like to think I'll have a little time to peel off and give some fly fishing a go, but I don't know much about the area.  Regardless, a rod, reel, and some flies will come with.  From what I've been able to scour online, there appears to be quite a bit of wadeable beach and some flats around Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin.  At least the Google Earth looks promising...

So it's probably a long shot, but if any of you know anything about DIY fly fishing on foot in and around Clearwater, FL...comments would be graciously welcomed.  If not, that's cool too, I'll figure something out...you know, when we're not doing Legos.

  1. No help here, but good luck and have fun. By the way, it's a little hard to fly a kite when all you have is 80 foot trees.

    1. I didn't...well didn't get fishing. Too much on the agenda and then weather threw in a monkey wrench. Oh well, I have some ideas for the return.
