Last Saturday was one of
those days on the water. No, it was not the typical day of finicky small stream trout frustration, yielding only a few takes and even fewer landed. Rather, the weather was warm, the fish were frisky (and hungry), and good karma came my way.
There were more...but I'm sure you're tired of looking at my hand by now.
I thought you vowed to get away from Valley Creek this year.....but heck, with fish coming to you like that, I can't blame ya. ;) Nice browns. Love the color. You catch anything else in there? Do they get bigger?
ReplyDeleteI still plan on fishing different spotss. The last two fishing trips were last minute, and only for a few hours (VC is 15 minutes from my house). It's only brown trout water, although you'll find some suckers too. My PB at Valley was about 16 or 17", but it's small water so not a ton of large fish.
DeleteOh, gotcha. Well, I'm not complaining or anything. Just wanting to prod you in the right direction. Yellow Breeches, LeTort, Penn's Creek. :) 16 inches is a mighty fine trout for any water.
DeleteLooks like a great day on the water. Congrats on getting out into some nice weather and fish.
ReplyDeleteBen
Thanks Ben, the weather was definitely a treat.
DeleteNicely Done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Big
DeleteNice!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words.
DeleteThose are some nice pictures, Congrats! I work just a couple of miles away from Valley Creek and after seeing these pictures I'm even more excited to get over there with my new Tenkara rod.
ReplyDeleteCaller is great tenkara water, work the riffles and slack water and you'll get into fish.
DeleteYes...good karma indeed! Glad you had the smell of fishy hands once again.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about karma.
DeleteMichael
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trout in or out of the water. I can barely see the fly, was it a Prince Nymph or Hare's Ear or neither? Thanks for sharing
Most of the fish were caught with a copper john, the fly in the last photo is a rubber leg prince nymph.
Deletehmmm. Looks like they are the same fish with different camera effects. Just kidding mike, I'm just jealous because I haven't been on the water in months. Way to get after them.
ReplyDeleteThe true key to catching lots of fish...photoshop.
DeleteI fished VC Dec 28 and saw a school of about 40 fish - some lunkers in there for sure - all i did was see them.
ReplyDeleteWill have to get up there again real soon. Looks like the Tully for me this weekend
Yeah, I think I know of what you speak. Some of the biggest ones are likely suckers, but there are some nice fat browns, especially below the covered bridge.
DeleteYes sir!
ReplyDeleteHolla!
DeleteLovely trout. I especially like the photo of the brook trout in the water. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteHave fun playing brook trout,
Mats Olsson, Sweden
Thazzzznobrooktrout! That's a brown. :)
DeleteYup...but thanks for stopping by Mats!
DeleteVery nice looking trout!
ReplyDeleteThanks AFF.
DeleteWell no Valley for me for a while... You've caught all the trout!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an epic day! I think this weekend may be even better.
It was definitely a good day. See you later today.
DeleteThat really is Troutrageous :) Excellent job and some beauty fish too boot. A fine, fine day! Tight Lines.
ReplyDeleteThanks TMG! The Driftless open up yet?
DeleteWell, at least your fingernails are nicely trimmed. (nice fish!)
ReplyDeleteJust for you Howard.
DeleteDamn, you did learn something from me! Either that or....even a blind dog finds a bone once in a while....LOL....Glad you had a great day on de water
ReplyDeleteYou'll be proud I only lost one fly the entire day, and that was on a rock, not in a tree! I need to get you down to VC when it is not like 20 degrees. The fish actually bite!
DeleteThe above pictures are nice. After seeing these pictures I'm excited to get over there. I must say the fish-lady looks great with red dots.
ReplyDeleteThanks. If you do get over, enjoy yourself!
