Saturday was a pretty nice day in southeastern Pennsylvania. The temps were in the low to mid 50s and the sun was playing peek-a-boo with the clouds all afternoon. Having anything above 35-40 degrees in mid February basically being the equivalent of playing with house money, why not push my luck? Not having fished since January, it was time to wet a line, if only for a two hour "escape."
I'm not one to spin a long story about the majesty of the outdoors, the symphony of the stream, or the Holiness of the trout. Let a more talented writer string those superlatives together. I went fishing. I caught a few. Even despite a frustrating case of the LDRs on the first two I hooked.
(Long Distance Release - for the the acronymically-challenged). Here's a few pictures of the day.

A rare anglerless view. Fellow fly fishermen were out in force on this day taking advantage of the weather. |
 |
My second LDR of the day was by a jumper about 4 feet to the right of that rock on the left.
Since when did 12" brownies jump 2 feet clear out of the water to kick a fly? |

Hey look...a trout. It's been a while, but you've seen them here before |
 |
What's that white thing in the tree?... |
 |
...a fake trout someone left behind. Yeah, I caught that one too. |
Nice! I'm hoping to get out for some light tackle today - maybe try the yellow perch run or gamble on some early bass and crappie....I have daddy duty all day, and my trout spots are not toddler friendly....
ReplyDeleteLight tackle is where it's at. Well, Daddy duty is where it's at, but you know what I mean...
DeleteNice looking stream and fish!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear ya got out.
Thanks, I do what I can.
DeleteI'm jealous...Last year I had time in the winter to fish but we were buried under several feet of snow. This year the weather has been great for winter fishing but I have had no time. We'll at least someone is catching some thing. Nice brown.
ReplyDeleteWell, when you find the time let me know. My New York fishing license needs to get used.
DeleteLooking good! Picture...video...you had it all going on! And fakeI trout to. Boit! Ha! Glad you could enjoy your couple hours.
ReplyDeleteI swear some spammer got through and wrote that...wait a minute! How did they get my picture...hmmm... T!~ Glad you had a great outing with that buckskin bag...And you are definitely one up on me with catching a fake fish... : )
DeleteSorry I was slow to the delete button! I think I'm going to keep a running total of streamside loot. Should be interesting to see what's left behind over the course of a year.
DeleteAH, I'm here with the flu. Haven't been able to get out for the last week, not to mention school. Hoping to get out today, and nice lil' Brown.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better!
DeleteAwful big lure for such skinny water. Maybe frustration put it in the tree.
ReplyDeleteMark
That's what I thought. There's deeper spots that hold bigger fish, but it wasn't where I found that lure...
DeleteYa got some greenery goin' on over there! Glad you could get out and share it with us. Take care -
ReplyDeleteThe least I could do to repay you for the twig snappin' adventures you take us on.
DeleteIf there are fish around to bite that big lure, you need a bigger fly.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteSeemed like it was nice to get out anyway and you got a free lure to boot.
ReplyDeleteBingo!
DeleteGood to see you got out and got into some action.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill...just waiting for the Spring to spring!
DeleteSometimes even fake fish can be fun. Glad you got out Mike.
ReplyDeleteExcept when you try to extract their trebles from your landing net.
Deleteway to get out on the water in February. Catching a few is a plus. You can even turn a profit from this trip by selling that fake trout on ebay.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
