I came home from my business trip tonight...and was greeted with a houseful of chaos.
As you might be able to tell from my wonderful wife's post, I spent the last 4+ hours wrangling mice.
3 so far. Tiny little field mice. The kind brown trout eat in that movie. Who knows how many else lurk.
They don't care much, but K.C. is freaking out. She spent over an hour outside in our front yard while the chasing, cornering, and subsequent skull crushing took place. Sorry PETA.
I think they are living under our refrigerator. Not on the floor but up in the sheet metal.
Calling in the professionals tomorrow...or buying a cat.
Wow... A vision of Dan Aykroyd and John Candy just popped into my head. Man chasing vermin indoors is always good for comic relief. Where's the video of you chasing mice with rubber gloves, gas mask, and broom in hand with flashlight duct taped to the handle.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know anybody actually bought cats. I think you just drive down to the local Wal-Mart parking lot (or an alley if you're in a more urban environment) and pick one out to take home.
ReplyDeletecat or professional? isn't that the same thing? I suppose professional's don't randomly bite. did you know that Once in a Blue Moon is available on Hulu? check it.

We had a similar problem, when we first got married.
ReplyDeleteThose little devils wrecked an entire pantry.
They chew on everything.
You don't need a professional. Just some peanut butter and 12 gauge. When you miss just tell you beloved that it was in self-defense.
ReplyDeleteAll kidding aside, peanut butter in a old fashion snap trap works the best. I dispatch whole families of mice each spring and fall. You and I can't keep them out. Once they are in the house, their faith is sealed.
@Gary Thompson
ReplyDeleteHopefully that video never surfaces. If it does, you may be impressed by my broom slap shot quickly followed by a flip and blunt force trauma.
@Jay
ReplyDeleteI hate cats so I have no idea. They are the devil spawn.
@Ivan
ReplyDeleteSweet! I have it on DVD, but Hulu works when sans player.
@Brk Trt
ReplyDeleteSee...spawn of the devil.
@Fly and Fin
ReplyDeleteLilly wouldn't be too keen on me feeding them her peanut butter...but if it comes to it, she'll have to deal. Thanks for the advice.
Wow, I've really fallen behind on my Troutrageous! reading. So much to learn. I've decided Troutrageous isn't really Saturday morning reading, it's more come-home-from-work-and-forget-I-even-have-a-job kind of reading. So much going on- infestations, vacations and something ichthy. You need to get an actual fishing trip in man. Oh well, you're a good dad and husband and that counts for something. Save one of those mice and tie up a copy of it for bass or browns. Or just skin it, tan it and tie it on. Have a great trip.
