Thanks to a sale on Cabela’s and some old unused gift cards, the under $30 (to me) 50th Anniversary C.G.R. fly rod ended up on my doorstep this weekend. She’s all rigged and ready to get her wiggle on. Waiting out this work week is going to be tough. The revolution will not be televised.

Nice! I got the 7/8wt, 7'6″ for bassin' in the fall & was tempted to get another one that sale was announced.Have fun with it!
in the non-sleep-deprived version of English, that should read ” to get another one when that sale was announced.”
Beautiful rod. I especially like the the nice and clean handle.Have fun with your new rod,M.O.
it's a beauty. Like MO said, sleek handle
Ahhhh…yet another stick for the fly rod rack. Good shopping!
Hey wait a minute….Thats not a Tenkara rod! Nice glass, be sure to post on how that baby handles!
Looks like all we had to do was lower the price a bit and we captured Troutrageous! Glass is not Dead!
Oh and Mike, stop in and visit at http://www.fiberglassflyrodders.com/forum.
I know quite a few guys that purchased that rod and they love them.
I've been drooling over these rods since they debuted, and they finally dropped the price… and I couldn't bring myself to buying one now. I don't know why. I just ordered an 8'6″ 3 weight Stowaway instead – which cost almost double the sale price on these CGR's. I guess part of it was the fact that I've got a little Wright & McGill 7' 2 weight, and an Eagle Claw glass 6'6″ 4 weight to cover the short & light end of the spectrum, and on the other end, I wasn't thrilled with their 6 weight model (since i've already got the LSi 9' 6 weight) – and if I need more than a six, I have my Echo 8 weight to step up to for throwing the really heavy stuff. And I guess part of it is that I still want to build myself an 8' 5 weight Steffen this year.
The bigger rod sounds like it would be a blast.
Yeah, it's my first (fly) rod without a screw down reel seat. It's kinda dainty.
Yes another for the rack. I now have two rods I might try to unload though…I'm thinking of donating them…just need to find a worthy recipient.
Yeah, I'm one of those weird tenkara dudes that just can't go totally reel-less.
I just bought it so I wouldn't feel like a poser when I wear my TFM shirts.
I have heard the same. It's my first foray into fiberglass…that rod has a lot of action to it.
Sounds like you're taken care of in terms of rods, but just know…it's out there…waiting…
